About Tsichliota

Tsichliota is a beach on Lesbos, facing south-west. Land shelters it from winds from the north, the north-east, the east, the south-east, and the north-west, so those winds leave the water flat here. Winds from the south, the south-west, and the west arrive over open sea and raise waves when they are strong. It looks west over open sea, so the sun sets into the water. A dirt track leads to the beach. Nothing to eat or drink is mapped within 300 m, so bring water and shade. The sea is warmest in August, at about 23 °C. It is above 22 °C from July to September.

Written from map data (OpenStreetMap contributors), our own measurement of the open sea around the beach and NOAA sea temperatures (1991-2020 averages).

When is it busy?

Typical visitor levels around Lesbos, month by month.

Lesbos is busiest in August. In May and October there are about half as many visitors, or fewer. For a flat sea and fewer people, the best months are June and September.

Visitor levels are nights spent in tourist accommodation in the North Aegean region (Eurostat, average of 2023–2025), compared with its busiest month. They show when the area is busy, not how many people are on a given beach.
