The photos on this site come from Wikimedia Commons and similar open sources and are used under their free licences: CC0 and public domain (no credit needed), and Creative Commons BY and BY-SA (credit to the author and a link to the licence are required).
Where the credit of a photo is
Every photo we show carries its own credit next to it: the author, the licence and a link to the original. You will find it on the result cards, on beach pages and in page headers. A photo that needs no credit (CC0, public domain) shows a small camera that opens the same details.
The licences and the source
Photos are resized, sometimes cropped, copies of the originals, stored on our own servers. Photos under BY-SA stay under BY-SA. If a photo of yours should be credited differently or removed, write to us.
